Landscape as Palimpsest, Research vs Client

Michael Ouzas
The lecture of Michael Ouzas, was in reference to the way research differs at a university level compared to a professional practice sense, it also touched upon the design outcome and the process. We studied this difference through understanding life and the design process through the idea of researching through a "palimpsest", which is researching through the uncovering of layers, deepening your research to uncover the unexpected. In both entities we both consider humans/people/the audience, but it is the thoroughness which differs between the two practices, unfortunately due to time and budget in outcome, its in the hands of the future designers to research the past and to create new futures and possibilities. In practice we are limited to what we can research, so we must be clear and concise in our time, wheras in university we have the flexibility to studied a site harder. But it is also the way we treat this subject in which it differs, and we investigated two prominent Landscape Architectural theorists and designers in Ian Mcharg and James Corner to extend our knowledge and understanding of the design process.
Michael Ouzas的观点涉及到年轻设计师有望在未来改变设计呈现的方式：从最初创意到设计流程，进而再到产出成果，探索过去和创造新未来和可能性都将由未来的设计师来实现。
To sum up the lecture refered to the idea that young designers have the opportunity in the future to change the way design is performed, from the inception to the process and later onto the outcome, its in the hands of the future designers to research the past and to create new futures and possibilities.
